Summary
Chitosan
This is a simple substance taken from Chitin – a polysaccharide found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans.
It is processed by removing the shells from shellfish (crabs, shrimp, lobster) and grinding them into a powder. The powder is then stripped of the chemicals which allow it to soak up fats.
Chitosan acts in the body as a fat magnet – it has a positive ionic charge and fat a negative charge, so they are naturally attracted.
The Chitosan converts to a gel to trap the fat, and then binds with the fat molecules and converts them into a form which the human body does not absorb.
It affects fat before it reaches the stomach so it is not metabolised.
The converted fat is then excreted in stools.
With less fat entering the body, it turns to the stores already available and burns up body fat.
Chitosan is boosted by taking citric acid/vitamin C as this affects the swelling action.
Guarana
The main ingredient is Guaranine, which is identical to caffeine.
Caffeine is an appetite suppressant, so guarana can help to control food cravings.
It also has stimulant properties, so can boost alertness and fight fatigue.
The caffeine in Guarana is released slowly (over 6 hours), so the effects are much more stable and long lasting then those of coffee.
